Introduction
After almost six years of not playing GTA V Online, I recently returned to Los Santos because one of my coworkers invited me to play together again. It felt strange at first, but also exciting. Grand Theft Auto V Online was one of the games I used to play a lot in the past, and coming back after such a long break gave me a strong feeling of nostalgia.
A lot has changed since the last time I played. These days, there are different versions of GTA V Online, including GTA V Legacy and GTA V Enhanced. Unfortunately, my current laptop, the ASUS FX553VD with an NVIDIA GTX 1050 GPU, is not compatible enough to properly run GTA V Enhanced. Because of that, I decided to continue playing on the Legacy version for now.
Even though I could not experience the Enhanced version yet, returning to GTA V Online Legacy still felt amazing. The game may be old, but the atmosphere, the open world, and the online experience are still very enjoyable.
Returning to GTA V Online After Six Years
The first time I logged back into GTA V Online after six years, I immediately felt a mix of happiness and nostalgia. It reminded me of the old days when I used to play this game with limited resources. Back then, my biggest problem was not the game itself, but my internet connection.
In the past, I did not have a stable home internet connection. I mostly relied on mobile data and tethering from my phone. In my country, mobile data packages were quite expensive, especially for a game like GTA V Online. The game often required large updates, and sometimes those updates were too big for my limited internet quota.
Because of that, playing GTA V Online in the past was not always easy. I had to think twice before updating the game or joining my friends online. Now, with a much better internet connection, playing GTA V Online feels far more comfortable and enjoyable.
My First Spawn Back in Los Santos
When I spawned into the game for the first time after my long break, I appeared near Eclipse Tower. At first, I was surprised because I had completely forgotten that I owned a property there. It was a nice surprise to see that my old GTA Online account was still intact.
Thankfully, my character data on the official GTA V Online server was not reset or rolled back. Everything was still there, just as I had left it years ago. This made me very happy because I did not have to start again from zero or go through the early grind from the beginning.
For a returning player, this is one of the best feelings. Knowing that your progress, property, and vehicles are still saved after so many years makes the comeback experience much more enjoyable.
Checking My Garage Again
After spawning, one of the first things I did was check my garage. I wanted to see what kind of vehicles I still had after all these years. To my surprise, most of the cars inside were leftover vehicles from the old days.
Some of them were not expensive supercars or luxury vehicles. Instead, they were mostly cars that I had stolen from NPCs back when I was still actively playing. It was funny to see those random vehicles still sitting in my garage after six years.
Even though they were not the best cars in the game, they carried a lot of memories. They reminded me of my early GTA Online days, when I did not have much money and simply used whatever vehicle I could find on the street.
Playing GTA V Online With a Friend Feels Much Better
Not long after I returned, my friend invited me to play a heist mission together. This was probably the moment that reminded me why GTA V Online is so fun. Playing GTA Online solo can be entertaining for a while, but over time, it can become repetitive and boring.
However, playing with a friend completely changes the experience. Missions feel more exciting, heists become more intense, and even small activities become more enjoyable. The teamwork, random chaos, and funny moments make the game feel alive again.
I realized that what I needed all this time was not only new content, but also someone to play with. GTA V Online becomes much more fun when you have a friend to share the experience with.
GTA V Online Legacy Still Holds Up
Even though I am currently playing the Legacy version instead of GTA V Enhanced, I still think GTA V Online remains one of the best online open-world games. The graphics may not be as modern as newer games, but the gameplay, freedom, and world design are still impressive.
Los Santos still feels alive. There are always missions to complete, vehicles to collect, businesses to manage, and random chaos happening in public sessions. The game still offers a unique online sandbox experience that is hard to find in other games.
For players with older hardware, GTA V Online Legacy is still a good option. It allows returning players like me to enjoy the game again without needing to upgrade to a high-end PC immediately.
Waiting for GTA VI
Of course, like many other GTA fans, I am still waiting for GTA VI. The wait feels very long, and GTA V has been around for many years. However, until GTA VI finally arrives, GTA V Online is still a great game to return to.
Even after six years away from the game, I can say that GTA V Online still has its charm. The game brings back old memories while still offering fun moments, especially when played with friends.
Final Thoughts
Returning to GTA V Online after six years was a surprisingly enjoyable experience. I came back expecting to feel lost or disconnected from the game, but instead, I felt welcomed by nostalgia. My old character, property, and vehicles were still there, and that made the comeback even better.
Although my laptop cannot run GTA V Enhanced properly, playing GTA V Legacy is still more than enough for now. The most important thing is not always the graphics or the newest version, but the experience itself.
Playing GTA V Online with a friend reminded me why this game became one of my favorites in the first place. Solo gameplay can get boring, but with the right friend, Los Santos becomes fun again.
For now, GTA V Online will remain one of my favorite games while waiting for GTA VI to finally be released.
Adios.
